This fall, we at COCON NIKKO were blessed with another wonderful connection that transcends borders and cultures. Bily and Alexova, a married couple, came to us on their honeymoon from the beautiful Central European country of the Czech Republic.
It was their first time in Japan, their first time in Nikko, and their first experience wearing a kimono. Their sparkling eyes captured all of this, and the entire COCON NIKKO store was enveloped in an aura of celebration brought from the Czech Republic.
Prologue: From the Romance of Prague to Kimonos in Nikko—The Beginning of Happiness
Bily and Alexova came from the Czech Republic, home to the historic and artistic city of Prague. The Czech Republic is known as one of the most romantic countries in the world, home to beautiful Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture.
After promising their love in such a beautiful country, the couple chose Japan, an island nation far to the east, as their honeymoon destination. We are truly honored that they included Nikko, a place steeped in history and nature, in their itinerary.

The couple’s gentle smiles clearly showed their sincere excitement for this “first-time” experience.
Warm interactions within the store: Resonating happiness
The couple’s warm personalities created a harmonious atmosphere throughout their visit. In particular, Alexova’s gentle waving and smiling faces at the Shichi-Go-San children who came into the store while getting ready reminded us once again that “happiness resonates.”
It was a moment when COCON NIKKO’s interior transformed into an international “place of happiness.”
Part 1: The Fusion of Kimono and Culture—Bily and ALEXOVA’s Honeymoon Coordination
The couple’s kimono selection focused on how to express ALEXOVA’s “delicate beauty” and the “elegance” of traditional Czech aesthetics through a Japanese kimono.
1. ALEXOVA’s Kimono Coordination—”Pale Blue Romance” Embodying Delicate Beauty
ALEXOVA’s first impression was her piercing blue eyes and reflective blonde hair, exuding a delicate, gentle aura. We chose a kimono that would bring out this beauty to the fullest.
• Kimono Selected: A deluxe kimono with a pale blue base and graceful purple and antique pink floral patterns that flow like a river.
• Harmony in Design: This kimono is a truly beautiful design that brings out Alexova’s delicate and gentle aura to the fullest. The pale blue harmonizes with the color of her eyes, and the antique pink of the floral pattern evokes the exotic beauty of the flowers adorning the cobblestones of Prague.
• Obi Selection: The obi is a subdued pale yellow to complement the color and pattern of the kimono. This yellow brightens the overall look and creates a sense of happiness befitting a honeymoon.
2. Bily’s Kimono Coordination—Powerful Colors of Love and Harmony
We proposed a coordination theme for Bily that embodies the perfect harmony between him and his wife, Alexova.
• Color Strategy for the Kimono and Haori: By choosing a blue kimono and a brown kimono jacket (haori), we created a powerful harmony that perfectly matches the pale blue of the wife’s kimono with the colors of Nikko’s historic streets and the autumn leaves.
• Obi Selection: Bily and ALEXOVA chose a matching pale yellow obi. This shared color symbolized their strong bond and love, creating a beautiful unity that instantly recognized them as a newlywed couple.
Part 2: From Nikko to Takayama—A Honeymoon Journey Through Japanese History and Beauty
Their honeymoon was not just sightseeing; it was an epic journey that delved deeply into Japanese history and culture.
• Travel Route: Nikko, Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, and Hida Takayama. It was a romantic itinerary that encapsulated both Japan’s present and its traditions.
• Sharing the Emotions: Bily showed us the goshuincho (stamp book) featuring a beautiful maple leaf cover that she had collected as a memento of her travels. Even before the kimono experience, it was clear that she was already captivated by Japan’s beautiful autumn foliage.
1. Touring Nikko’s Historical Spots in Kimono
After getting dressed in kimono at COCON NIKKO, the couple headed to Nikko’s historical highlights.
• Shinkyo Bridge: This sacred place of romance is where a client from Hawaii proposed last year. The couple’s kimono-clad photos on the beautiful vermilion bridge were stunning. It’s a romantic sight rivaling even the Charles Bridge in Prague.
• Nikko Imperial Villa: A quiet and tranquil place steeped in the history of the Imperial family. Alexova’s delicate kimono blended beautifully with the elegant atmosphere of the Imperial Villa.
• Rinno-ji Temple: This temple is known as the birthplace of Mount Nikko. Wearing kimono in a place steeped in history and faith surely added a spiritual depth to their honeymoon.
2. The Charm of the Czech Republic: Sharing History and Beauty
Through our conversation, we were able to gain a deeper appreciation for the beauty of their homeland, the Czech Republic.
• A beautiful, historic country: The Czech Republic is a landlocked country located in Central Europe, and its capital is Prague. Its beautiful historic streets are particularly popular around the world.
• Prague Castle and Charles Bridge: The capital, Prague, is home to the magnificent Prague Castle, built in the 9th century, the Old Town, which preserves its medieval streets, and the romantic Charles Bridge, lined with statues.
• Český Krumlov: A small town in South Bohemia, famous for its abundant Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture.
The kimono experience in Nikko resonated with the couple’s sense of the “historical beauty” of their hometown and likely helped them gain a deeper understanding of traditional Japanese culture.
Part 3: A thoughtful cheesecake—a warm bond that transcends borders
When the couple returned to COCON NIKKO after their kimono experience in Nikko, they received a heartwarming surprise.
• Gratitude: The couple presented us with a cheesecake as a token of their appreciation. It was delicious.
• Kindness: This thoughtful gesture spoke volumes about Bily and ALEXOVA’s kind nature. All of our staff were touched by their dedication to cherishing a once-in-a-lifetime encounter like ours during their special honeymoon.
