Hello! I am Misa Endo, the manager of Nikko Kimono Rental COCON NIKKO.

Once your heart is filled with beautiful scenery… next, you want to fill your “stomach,” right?
There are many delicious restaurants in Nikko, but today I would like to introduce a wonderful shop that I interact with regularly on Instagram and whose owner I have fallen in love with for his “personality” and “passion.”
The name is “Nikko Maruhide Shokudo Main Store.”
And the man running this shop is the third-generation owner, Mr. Tsuyoshi Tezuka!
Mr. Tezuka’s love for Nikko, love for his customers, and love for cooking comes through clearly even in our online interactions.
Today, I will talk passionately about the charms of “Maruhide Shokudo,” which COCON NIKKO recommends with full confidence!
Chapter 1: History & Passion — Over 80 Years of History. The Challenge of the “Still Learning” Third Generation
Located close to Nikko’s shrines and temples, this cafeteria has a warm atmosphere.
The history of “Maruhide Shokudo” runs deep, counting over 80 years since its founding.
Surviving through the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras, it is a veteran among veterans.
However, the third-generation owner, Mr. Tezuka, says this:
“We are still a fledgling cafeteria…”
When I heard these words, I got goosebumps.
Even after 80 years, he continues to have the ambition that “we are still on the way” and “we can become better.”
I believe this humility and hungry spirit—never being satisfied with the status quo—is the “Proof of a First-Class Establishment.”
The Fusion of Tradition and Modern Passion
What is wonderful about Maruhide Shokudo is that while protecting old traditions, they fearlessly incorporate modern essence.

It is healthy yet satisfying. I wholeheartedly recommend it to women who don’t want to feel too stuffed in a kimono, and men who want a hearty meal.

Notably, they provide “Authentic Vegetarian Cuisine.”
Nikko attracts tourists from all over the world.
There are many people who do not eat meat due to religious reasons or lifestyle choices.

What I feel through our interaction on Instagram is that he always holds “Gratitude to those around him” and “Passion to liven up Nikko.”

While humbly saying he is still a novice, his back looks very big and reliable.
