COCON NIKKO has reached a major milestone: its 8th anniversary.
First of all, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of our customers who have visited us so far.
“I’m glad I came to COCON NIKKO!”
“I never knew walking around Nikko in a kimono would be so much fun!”
Each and every comment like this is a treasure to us and encourages us every day.

このたび、COCON NIKKOは8周年という大きな節目を迎えることができました。
まずは、これまで当店に足を運んでくださったすべてのお客様に、心からの感謝を申し上げます。

「COCON NIKKOに来て良かった！」
「着物で歩く日光が、こんなに楽しいなんて！」
そんなお声の一つひとつが、私たちにとっての宝物であり、日々の励みとなってきました。

Looking back — many encounters, but also difficulties振り返れば――たくさんの出会い、そして困難も

COCON NIKKO began eight years ago with a small idea.
“We want to provide a more memorable experience in Nikko, a wonderful place filled with history and nature.”
“We want people to feel closer to the beauty of Japanese culture through kimonos.”
We started with these thoughts in mind.
When we first opened, we were still unknown, and we could barely welcome a few customers a day.
But little by little, people started to find out about COCON NIKKO through word of mouth and social media, and we began to have many people visiting

8年前、小さな想いから始まったCOCON NIKKO。
「日光という歴史と自然が溢れる素晴らしい場所で、もっと心に残る体験を届けたい」
「和の美しさを、着物を通してもっと身近に感じてほしい」
そんな気持ちでスタートしました。

オープン当初はまだ知名度もなく、1日に数組のお客様をお迎えすることもやっとでした。
でも、口コミやSNSで少しずつCOCON NIKKOを知っていただき、国内外からたくさんの方々がご来店くださるようになりました。

Overcoming turbulent times　激動の時代を乗り越えて

And we will never forget the COVID-19 pandemic.

In particular, the unprecedented pandemic that spread across the world dealt a major blow to tourism businesses like ours. We were deeply saddened by the uncertainty of the future, the sharp decline in customers, and above all, the reality that our everyday lives, which we had taken for granted, were being lost. The flow of people in the tourist town of Nikko came to a complete halt for a time. We were unable to continue business, and we spent many days feeling like we were about to break.

However, even in such a difficult situation, we never stopped. With a strong desire in our hearts to “make special memories through kimono in the beautiful scenery of Nikko, especially at a time like this,” and “to bring smiles and energy to as many people as possible,” we made every effort to implement measures against infection.

We have valued introducing kimono on the web, proposing new plans for local customers, and above all, warm hospitality that is close to the heart of each and every customer. As a result, little by little, the smiles of our customers began to return, and we were so encouraged.
We’ve had customers send us encouraging messages on social media saying, “If I go to Nikko again, I’ll definitely come again!”, and repeat customers who have been waiting for us to reopen, which has been a great encouragement to us.

そして忘れもしないのが、コロナ禍。

特に、世界中を覆った未曽有のパンデミックは、私たちのような観光業に大きな打撃を与えました。先の見えない不安、お客様の激減、そして何よりも、これまで当たり前だった日常が失われていく現実に、私たちは深く心を痛めました。観光地である日光の街は一時、人の流れがピタリと止まりました。私たちも営業を続けることができず、心が折れそうになる日々が続きました。

しかし、そんな苦境の中でも、私たちは決して立ち止まることはありませんでした。「こんな時だからこそ、日光の美しい景色の中で、着物を通して特別な思い出を作っていただきたい」「少しでも多くの方に、笑顔と元気をお届けしたい」という強い想いを胸に、感染対策を徹底しながら、できる限りの工夫を重ねてきました。

webでの着物紹介や、地元のお客様に向けた新しいプランの提案、そして何よりも、お客様一人ひとりの心に寄り添う温かいおもてなしを大切にしてきました。その結果、少しずつ、またお客様の笑顔が戻ってきてくださるようになり、私たちはどれほど励まされたことでしょう。

「また日光に行ったら絶対行きますね！」とSNSで励ましのメッセージをくださるお客様や、営業再開を待ち望んでくださったリピーター様の存在が、私たちにとってどれほど力になったことでしょうか。

本当に、ありがとうございます。

Appreciation to customers from home and abroad　国内外からのお客様への感謝

In recent years, customers from Japan and abroad have finally started to visit Nikko again, and the town has regained its vitality. Customers from various countries and regions have also visited COCON NIKKO, experiencing the traditional Japanese culture of kimono and spending their time in the beautiful scenery of Nikko.
The sight of customers strolling around happily in colorful kimono is our greatest joy and gives us daily energy. Every time we hear warm words such as “I was really moved to be able to experience Japanese culture,” “It was my dream to walk around the town of Nikko wearing a kimono,” and “I was healed by the smiles of the COCON NIKKO staff,” we feel once again that we are really glad that we chose this job.
Customers who come all the way from faraway foreign lands to Nikko and to COCON NIKKO. Customers who come to this beautiful Nikko from all over Japan and try to make special memories through kimono. Your smiles and warm words have supported our journey for the past eight years. We would like to express our sincere gratitude.

近年、ようやく国内外からのお客様が再び日光を訪れてくださるようになり、街には活気が戻ってきました。COCON NIKKOにも、様々な国や地域からのお客様が足を運んでくださり、日本の伝統文化である着物に触れ、日光の美しい景色の中で思い思いの時間を過ごされています。

色とりどりの着物に身を包み、楽しそうに散策されるお客様の姿は、私たちにとって何よりの喜びであり、日々の活力となっています。「日本の文化に触れることができて、本当に感動しました」「着物を着て、日光の街を歩くのは夢でした」「COCON NIKKOのスタッフの皆さんの笑顔に癒されました」といった温かいお言葉をいただくたびに、私たちはこの仕事を選んで本当に良かったと改めて感じます。

遠い異国の地から、はるばる日光へ、そしてCOCON NIKKOへ足を運んでくださるお客様。日本の各地から、この美しい日光を訪れ、着物を通して特別な思い出を作ろうとしてくださるお客様。皆様の笑顔と、温かいお言葉が、私たちの8年間の歩みを支えてきてくださいました。心より感謝申し上げます。

I believe that COCON NIKKO has been able to continue for so long thanks to the charm of the land of Nikko.

The streets filled with the beauty of the four seasons,

the Toshogu Shrine and Shinkyo Bridge that are full of history and culture,

and the warm smiles of the local people who welcome us.

When customers walk through the streets of Nikko wearing kimonos,

“It’s like I’ve traveled back in time”

“These photos look amazing! I want to stay here forever!”

It makes me truly happy that we chose to set up shop here.

COCON NIKKOがここまで続けてこられたのは、日光という土地の魅力があってこそだと感じています。

四季折々の美しさが詰まった街並み、
歴史と文化が息づく東照宮や神橋、
そして温かく迎えてくれる地元の方々の笑顔。

着物を身にまとい、日光の街を歩くお客様が
「まるでタイムスリップしたみたい」
「写真映えがすごい！ずっとここにいたい！」
と笑顔を浮かべてくださる瞬間、
この地でお店を構えてよかったと、心から思えるのです。

　COCON NIKKO hopes to continue to be a “happy” and “heartful” presence for everyone. We aim to create a store where each customer can smile and feel enriched through the experience of wearing a kimono.

In addition to simply renting kimonos, we would like to plan various services and plans that provide opportunities to learn about kimonos and experience Japanese culture, and make customers’ travel memories even more colorful. For example, we feel that there is still a lot we can do, such as photo plans with Nikko’s beautiful nature and historical buildings as the backdrop, disseminating information about local events that you can participate in while wearing a kimono, and proposing coordination that brings out the individuality of each customer, as well as dressing and hair styling.

We also have a big dream of making the entire city of Nikko even more colorful with customers wearing kimonos. The colorful kimonos blend into the beautiful scenery of Nikko, bringing smiles and energy to people walking around the city and to the people who live there. In order to help create such a scene, we would like to continue to deepen our ties with the local community and engage in various activities.

COCON NIKKOは、これからも皆様にとって「Happy」で「Heartful」な存在であり続けたいと願っています。着物を着るという体験を通して、お客様一人ひとりが笑顔になり、心が豊かになるような、そんなお店作りを目指してまいります。

単に着物をレンタルするだけでなく、着物の知識や日本の文化に触れる機会を提供したり、お客様の旅の思い出をより一層彩るような、様々なサービスやプランを企画していきたいと考えています。例えば、日光の美しい自然や歴史的な建造物を背景にしたフォトプラン、着物で参加できる地域のイベント情報の発信、そして、着付けやヘアセットだけでなく、お客様一人ひとりの個性を引き出すようなコーディネートの提案など、できることはまだまだたくさんあると感じています。

また、私たちは、日光の街全体を、着物姿のお客様でさらに華やかに彩っていきたいという大きな夢を持っています。色とりどりの着物が、日光の美しい景観に溶け込み、街を歩く人々、そしてそこに暮らす人々にも、笑顔と活力を与える。そんな光景を創り出す一助となれるよう、これからも地域との連携を深めながら、様々な活動に取り組んでいきたいと考えています。

Now that we are celebrating our 8th anniversary, our feelings are simpler than ever.

“We want to make our customers truly happy.”

To that end, we want to provide a careful, warm, happy and heartfelt experience with every kimono, the selection of obi and hair accessories,
the smiles and language of our staff, and our hospitality.

We would be so happy if we could continue to help deliver the “Japanese tradition of kimono” and “unforgettable travel memories” to people from all over Japan and to those visiting Nikko from all over the world.

8周年を迎える今、私たちの気持ちはこれまで以上にシンプルです。

「目の前のお客様に、心から喜んでもらいたい」

そのために、着物の一つひとつ、帯や髪飾りの選び方、
スタッフの笑顔や言葉づかい、おもてなしの心――
どれも手を抜かず、丁寧に、温かく、happyでheartfulな時間を提供できるようにしていきたいと思っています。

これからも国内の方々はもちろん、世界中から日光を訪れる皆様に、
“着物という日本の伝統”と、
“心に残る旅の思い出”を届けるお手伝いができたら、こんなに嬉しいことはありません。
