A Touching Reunion! From 3-Year-Old to 7-Year-Old Lady! The Shichi-Go-San Story of Sisters Rin-chan and An-chan, Woven at COCON NIKKO — A Complete Collection of Family Love and Bonds —
Hello! I am Misa Endo, the manager of Nikko Kimono Rental COCON NIKKO!
Shichi-Go-San is one of the most important and moving milestones for a family, celebrating the healthy growth of their children, thanking the gods, and wishing them a bright future. Every time we have the honor of preparing a child for this auspicious day at COCON NIKKO, we feel a deep sense of joy and the serious responsibility that comes with it.
Above all, as this is a “milestone of parenting,” we want to express our heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to the mothers and fathers who have poured their love into raising their children thus far.
Today, we are thrilled to introduce the story of Rin-chan’s family, a heartwarming reunion that, for us at COCON NIKKO, felt like witnessing the growth of our own child.
This is not just a record of a kimono rental. It is a chronicle of the growth of two young ladies, filled with love, family bonds, and the passionate dedication of our staff.
3 Years Ago: Rin-chan, the Cute Angel in a Pink Beret
Going back three years, there was an adorable girl vividly imprinted in COCON NIKKO’s memory. That was Rin-chan, who celebrated her first Shichi-Go-San at the age of three.
Even then, Rin-chan was a stylish young lady. Her cuteness made all of our staff smile involuntarily.

Rin-chan’s 3-Year-Old Shichi-Go-San Style (3 Years Ago)
- Kimono Coordination: She chose a lovely pink kimono. It perfectly suited Rin-chan’s gentle aura and had a vibrancy that made everyone who saw her smile.
- Special Accessory: She chose a pink beret, which was still a rare mix of traditional kimono and Western elements. This beret highlighted Rin-chan’s individuality and made her style unforgettable.
- Hairstyle: Glittering twin tails adorned with tiny scattered pearls. It was a romantic hairstyle, seemingly straight out of a picture book.
The Beautiful Mother’s Heartwarming Preparation
And the sight of her mother during that time is also an unforgettable memory for us at COCON NIKKO.
- Choice of Homongi (Formal Kimono): Her mother chose a salmon-pink homongi. This color is magical, instantly brightening the face and blending well with the skin. Its elegance perfectly suited the beautiful mother as she gazed at Rin-chan.
- Hairstyle: An elegant and sophisticated updo, accented with pearl hairpins that matched Rin-chan’s twin tails. We were impressed by the delicate sensibility of enjoying subtle matching styles between mother and daughter.
Warm Family Bonds, Even 3 Years Ago
During her first Shichi-Go-San preparation, Rin-chan was full of excitement and anticipation. She was able to complete the dressing process with a sense of security, holding her mother’s hand and occasionally sitting on her lap.
For a three-year-old, who might feel a little nervous or restless in unfamiliar clothes, the mother’s presence is truly immense and was Rin-chan’s source of comfort. It symbolized the overflowing bond of love in the family.
When we gave Rin-chan and her mother the photos from that day, we talked about whether Rin-chan remembered the cute pictures in her pink beret and kimono. It is truly our greatest joy and honor at COCON NIKKO to see our families come back for these milestones and witness their children’s growth.
Choosing a 7-Year-Old Kimono: A Lady’s Struggle and the Fateful Dress
Time passed, and the Shichi-Go-San season arrived this year.
The moment I saw their name on the reservation list, my heart, Misa Endo’s heart, leaped with excitement. When Rin-chan opened the door and walked in for the reunion, she had grown into a stunning 7-year-old lady with the graceful figure of a model!
“Rin-chan, you’ve gotten so big! Do you remember me?”
Now seven and a big sister, Rin-chan was serious about choosing her kimono. From the many beautiful kimonos at COCON NIKKO, Rin-chan was torn between these two:
- Vibrant Red Kimono: A bright, strong color suitable for the joyous day of a seven-year-old.
- Soft Pink Kimono: A gentle, fluffy color, perhaps showing an attachment to the color she wore at three.
“Which one should I choose?” “Both look great, and I love both kimonos.”
It was a charming moment, hinting at the struggle of a seven-year-old girl’s sense of fashion.
After much thought, comparing them in the mirror repeatedly… Rin-chan finally decided on the “vivid red kimono with a floral pattern”!
Rin-chan’s 7-Year-Old Kimono: “Miyabi” (Elegance)
This kimono felt as if it embodied the determination and confidence of a 7-year-old lady.
- Design Feature: Rin-chan chose “Miyabi,” one of our most popular designs for 7-year-olds.
- Material and Color: A vibrant, true red with a bold, eye-catching pattern of large peonies. The crimson silk shimmered, making Rin-chan’s skin look fairer and more beautiful.
- Pattern Detail: Besides the glossy peonies, the design also features delicate small flowers and beautifully fluttering butterflies. These patterns create a highly three-dimensional and gorgeous impression, far from a flat red.
- The Wish Contained: This kimono is a garment of high distinction, perfect for Rin-chan as she takes her first step as a magnificent and dignified “Lady.”

Meeting a New Angel: An-chan’s 3-Year-Old Shichi-Go-San!
And this time, there was another surprise. The preparation for Rin-chan’s younger sister, An-chan’s, 3-year-old Shichi-Go-San!
An-chan was not yet born three years ago when Rin-chan had her Shichi-Go-San. We, the COCON NIKKO staff, were so happy to finally meet her!
An-chan is a playful little girl who didn’t shy away from us, happily danced, and chatted away.
It was evident to us how gently and proudly Rin-chan, the older sister, watched over her adorable younger sister, An-chan. This heartwarming scene of sisterly love filled us with genuine happiness.
An-chan’s 3-Year-Old Kimono: “Kanon”
An-chan chose a fluffy and supremely cute coordination.
- Kimono and Hifu (Vest): A light blue kimono paired with a warm pink hifu. This combination further enhanced An-chan’s innocent smile.
- The Charm of Pastel Colors: The light blue and pink pastel colors are very popular with children. The gentle, macaron-like shades perfectly matched An-chan’s soft demeanor.
- The Wish Contained: This kimono holds the parents’ warm wish for An-chan to “grow into a woman as beautiful as a flower and loved by those around her.” All of us at COCON NIKKO sincerely wish for An-chan’s healthy growth.

A Scene of Family Love: Dad’s Hakama and An-chan’s VIP Seat
What was most deeply impressed on Misa-san’s heart during this Shichi-Go-San was that all four family members celebrated the day in kimono, and the natural kindness shown by the father within that scene.
Dad’s Cool Hakama Attire
To celebrate Rin-chan’s seventh year and An-chan’s third, the father appeared in a dignified hakama (traditional pleated trousers).
His style, a subdued-colored kimono paired with a highly formal hakama, strongly conveyed the dignity of a family pillar who protects and supports his family, and his sincere attitude toward the ceremony of Shichi-Go-San. His cool hakama appearance surely was imprinted in the hearts of Rin-chan and An-chan as a proud and admirable image of their father.
Mom’s Beautiful Kimono Attire
Of course, the mother also celebrated the growth of her two daughters in a beautiful kimono.
Unlike the salmon pink homongi she chose for the 3-year-old preparation, this one was a homongi with the elegance and brilliance to stand proudly alongside Rin-chan’s crimson seven-year-old kimono. While letting her daughters be the stars, the mother was also dressed elegantly and appropriately for the celebratory day. Her beautiful kimono attire must have been the aspiring image of a lady for her two daughters.
An-chan’s VIP Seat: On Dad’s Lap
And during the preparation, An-chan’s safest spot was “on her dad’s lap.”
It’s not uncommon for three-year-olds to cry during preparation due to unfamiliar clothes or nervousness. However, An-chan sat happily on her father’s strong yet gentle knee. The father was listening to the explanation of the kimono while holding An-chan securely and occasionally speaking to her kindly. His natural kindness and overflowing love created An-chan’s sense of security and her smiles.
This scene on the father’s lap was the best photo opportunity for our staff, reminding us of the depth of family bonds and love.

The Perfect Finish: Matching Hair Accessories and the Complete Picture of Love
After both girls finished their hair styling in their kimonos, it was time for the final touch.
The Mother’s Love Shines with “Matching Hair Accessories”
The look was complete with the matching hair accessories the mother had prepared!
Rin-chan’s seven-year-old style and An-chan’s three-year-old style. Although the colors and patterns of their kimonos were different, the matching hair accessories brought the strong bond between the two sisters and the mother’s deep affection together in one beautiful harmony that resonated throughout COCON NIKKO.
This “moment of matching” is the perfect form of the “Cute Happy Time!” we aim to create.
