世界遺産・日光には毎日、地図の端から端まで、様々な国からお客様がやってきます。でも、その出会いの一つひとつが、私にとっては奇跡のようなものです。今日ご紹介するのは、はるばる東欧の貴婦人、ポーランドからお越しのマグダレーナ・ビル（Magdalena Bil）様の物語です。
ポーランドの首都ワルシャワから日光までは、直線距離にして約9,100km。飛行機で約14時間、そこから電車に揺られて数時間。そんな長い旅路を経て、彼女が私たちの店を選んでくれた理由。それは単なる「着物レンタル」ではなく、文化を通じた「心の交流」を求めていたからだと、私は彼女の笑顔を見て直感しました。

Hello everyone! I am Misa Endo, the manager of Nikko Kimono Rental COCON NIKKO.
Every day, people from all corners of the globe travel to the World Heritage site of Nikko. To me, every single encounter is nothing short of a miracle. Today, I want to share the story of Magdalena Bil, a sophisticated guest who traveled all the way from Poland.
The distance from Warsaw, Poland, to Nikko is approximately 9,100 kilometers. It is a long journey—roughly 14 hours by flight followed by several hours on a train. When I saw her radiant smile, I knew intuitively that she hadn’t chosen us just for a “kimono rental,” but for a genuine “heart-to-heart cultural exchange.”

マグダレーナ様にとって、今回は記念すべき初めての日本旅行。 彼女の旅の彩りは、昨日から始まっていました。
昨日は東京の浅草で、赤地に桜模様が鮮やかな、これぞ日本！という華やかな振袖を楽しまれたそうです。そして今日、日光で彼女が選んだのは、これまでの華やかさとは一線を画す、**「明るい色の袴（はかま）」**スタイルでした。
「神社の建物はダークカラーが多いから、着物は明るい色が映えると思って」
そう語る彼女の色彩感覚は、まさにカラーコーディネーターとしての私を唸らせるものでした。ご一緒に来店された彼氏さんと共に、日光の厳かな空気に溶け込むような、洗練されたライトカラーの袴姿。それは、歴史ある日光の街に新しい光を灯してくれるような美しさでした。
明日は日光江戸村へと足を運び、日本の江戸文化にどっぷりと浸かる予定だそうです。2日間の日光滞在。彼女が一番楽しみにしているのは、実は「初めての温泉」なのだとか。日本の「静」と「動」を五感で楽しむ彼女の旅は、まさに理想的です。

This is Magdalena’s first trip to Japan, and her journey has been beautifully vibrant.
Yesterday, she visited Asakusa in Tokyo, wearing a stunning red Furisode adorned with cherry blossom patterns—a quintessentially Japanese look. Today in Nikko, she decided on something different: a sophisticated, light-colored Hakama style.
“Since the shrine buildings are mostly dark tones, I thought a light color for the kimono would stand out beautifully,” she explained.
Her sense of color truly impressed me as a professional coordinator. Dressed in those refined light tones alongside her boyfriend, she looked as if she were bringing a new light into the ancient streets of Nikko. Tomorrow, they plan to visit Edo Wonderland to immerse themselves further in Edo-period culture. During her two-day stay in Nikko, she shared that she is most looking forward to her first-ever Onsen (hot spring) experience. Her journey is a perfect blend of Japan’s “stillness” and “vibrancy.”

Magdalena’s home, Poland, is a country of deep history in Central Europe and shares many spiritual commonalities with Japan.
- A Spirit of Resilience and Reconstruction Poland is like a “Phoenix,” having faced numerous hardships throughout history only to rise again every time. The passion shown in faithfully reconstructing the Old Town of Warsaw after WWII—down to the last crack in a brick—resonates deeply with the Japanese spirit of craftsmen who have protected and restored Nikko’s shrines for centuries.
- The Spirit of Hospitality There is a Polish proverb: “A guest in the house is God in the house (Gość w dom, Bóg w dom).” This is remarkably similar to the Japanese mindset of “the customer is God.” The reason Magdalena resonated with my passion is likely because her own culture values people just as deeply.
- Respect for Nature and the Seasons Like Japan, Poland experiences four distinct seasons. They celebrate the arrival of spring and cherish the colors of autumn. This sensitivity—delicate yet passionate like the music of Chopin—is deeply connected to our own love for the nature of Nikko.

Magdalena, thank you for such a wonderful time.
My goal is for guests to look beautiful and feel comfortable in a kimono. I was so moved to see how perfectly you understood and enjoyed the tips I shared on how to walk and sit. Watching your “light-colored” Hakama dance against the solemn “dark-toned” backdrop of the shrines was like a work of art made of light.
How was your first Onsen experience? As you soaked in the waters of Nikko, I hope the “Spirit of Japan” you felt on this journey traveled back with you to Poland as a warm, lasting memory.
