From Los Angeles to a Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience
At the end of a two-week journey through Japan, Debbie and her daughter Sophia—visiting from Los Angeles, California—chose Nikko as the final chapter of their adventure.
And for their last, most meaningful memory in Japan, they chose to wear kimono with COCON NIKKO.
A Journey of Firsts
For Debbie and Sophia, everything about this trip was new.
Their first time in Japan.
Their first visit to Nikko.
And their very first kimono experience.
When they stepped into our shop, their smiles told us everything—
a beautiful mix of excitement, curiosity, and gentle nervousness.
“Japan is so beautiful. I love it,” Debbie told us.
She spoke with joy about the food, the people, and the calm beauty she felt throughout the country.
Although Japan may seem small compared to California, they discovered something special here—
a beauty rich in history, culture, and quiet moments that stay with you.

Two Styles, One Beautiful Harmony
Debbie selected our Premium Kimono Plan, choosing a striking retro-modern kimono in vivid vermilion and black, adorned with traditional umbrella motifs—symbols of good fortune and a bright future.
Her look was completed with a classic updo hairstyle and a refined Nagoya obi, creating an elegant presence that felt timeless and powerful.
Sophia, beside her, chose a soft lavender kimono from our Deluxe Plan, decorated with delicate floral patterns.
Her braided princess hairstyle gave her a gentle, storybook charm—fresh, graceful, and full of light.
Walking side by side, the contrast between mother and daughter—dynamic red and serene purple—created a perfect harmony that turned heads throughout Nikko.
Winter Nikko: Quiet, Sacred, Unforgettable
It was winter when they explored Nikko.
The air was crisp, the atmosphere deeply sacred.
Wearing kimono, they visited the UNESCO World Heritage sites—
Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Futarasan Shrine, and Rinno-ji Temple—walking slowly along stone paths, surrounded by cedar trees and history.
Even the cold became part of the memory.
Experiencing Japan not just by seeing, but by feeling—
this is something that stays in your heart long after the journey ends.
Rest, Cuisine, and the Art of Travel
That evening, Debbie and Sophia stayed at Nikko Nishimachi Club Aratoutou, a refined retreat known for its beautiful design and exceptional cuisine.
“The chef is incredible,” Debbie told us with sparkling eyes.
After weeks of travel, the thoughtful hospitality, peaceful rooms, and exquisite local dishes offered a moment of deep rest.
Wearing kimono, walking through historic streets, and ending the day with unforgettable food—
this is the true luxury of travel in Japan.

A Promise to Return
Before leaving Nikko, Debbie said something we will never forget:
“We will definitely come back to Japan.”
Nikko is not just a sightseeing destination.
It is a place where time slows, hearts connect, and stories are quietly woven.
Cherry blossoms in spring.
Deep green mountains in summer.
Brilliant autumn leaves.
Each season reveals a different Nikko—and a different reason to return.
When that day comes, we will be here, ready to welcome you once again.
May the days ahead for you both unfold as widely as the umbrella motifs on your kimono,
and bloom as beautifully as the floral patterns that adorned it.
With heartfelt gratitude.
All of us at COCON NIKKO sincerely look forward to the day we meet again.
A Final Gift: Handmade Strawberry Accessories
As a final touch, we presented our guests with a small handmade strawberry accessory.
Filled with love from Tochigi, this is our fluffy little “Mofu-Mofu Strawberry.”
Tochigi Prefecture is, of course, widely known as Japan’s home of the finest strawberries.
Inspired by this local pride, the COCON family lovingly hand-crocheted these strawberry-shaped keychains, stitching each one with care.
They have a soft, fluffy look that’s adorable on a bag—
but they’re also made from acrylic yarn, making them surprisingly practical and perfect for light cleaning tasks, such as washing dishes.
“Cute, useful, and most of all, full of handmade warmth.”
That was our goal—to create an item that brings a little happiness to everyone who receives it.
We hope that your kimono experience in Nikko becomes not only a beautiful memory,
but also a moment where you can feel the warmth and heart of Tochigi itself.
